Encouraging signs in first VFLW hitout
Our women's side have shown plenty of positives in their first practice match for the season.
Playing against the Southern Saints at Downer Oval, we had several debutants who all impressed in their first game for the Seagulls.
Jamilla Cranny was one of our best performers for the game, tacking many marks on the last line of defence.
Emily Gardner showed she will be a valuable player this year as she not only got plenty of the ball but also laid many impressive tackles.
Both Jasmine Kawa and Danica Pederson had a good aerial presence when the ball was kicked out of defence.
Annabelle Shannon had a lot of good moments in the game as well, with a rundown tackle and a smother to stop a certain goal just to name a few.
Our defensive half had plenty of the ball throughout the game and making the most of that was Lauren Sulieman who provided a good link from the backline to the midfield.
It was good to get back into gameplay as the start of the VFLW season gets closer. Plenty of players got game time, with more still to come back into the side.
