Nick Fothergill added to senior list

Nick Fothergill has been added to our senior list following news Hayden Walters won’t play for the remainder of the 2019 season.

Fothergill joined the Seagulls during the pre-season where his work ethic and hard work has impressed both the coaching and playing group.

Upon news of Walters' unavailability for the reminder of the season due to his ACL reconstruction last year, along with Fothergill’s impressive form at Goulburn Valley club Tatura, the club has rewarded Fothergill for his efforts.

A former NEAFL player with the Canberra Demons, Fothergill was a NEAFL rising star nominee in his first season along being in the Demon’s leadership group. In his first season he also took out of the club's Best and Fairest award alongside former Adelaide Crow Ben Dowdell in 2015.

His strong start to the season at Tatura was recognised in selection for the Goulburn Valley League in their big win over the Western Region League in the AFL Victoria Community Championships.

“Nick is a great character to have around the group and his tireless work ethic hasn’t gone unnoticed by the remainder of the group," GM-Football Stephen Soulsby said.

"Playing as a small forward / midfielder he has been terrific at local level and no doubt he will get an opportunity at VFL level soon enough if that form continues.”

Walters underwent further surgery yesterday following restrictions in his rehabilitation over the past 12 months.
