Seagulls bow out of 2016 with 42-point loss to Casey

Williamstown has bowed out of 2016 with a 42-point loss to Casey in today's preliminary final at North Port Oval.

The Scorpions led from start to finish to eventually run out 12.13 (85) to 5.13 (43) winners.

The Seagulls were never able to get their game going against the minor premiers, who fielded a very strong outfit and played the game on their terms all day.

For the Seagulls, Willie Wheeler held his head high with a strong game in the middle, while David Fahey and Ben Bese battled admirably down back despite the many inside 50's that the Scorpions were getting.

Ed Carr was another Seagull who battled manfully throughout the contest at the stoppages, while another bright spot was also seeing the performances of two up and coming Seagulls, Jake Greiser and Caleb Hislop, who showed that they belong at state league level.

The Seagulls will look back on season 2016 at the final official function of the year, the Gerry Callahan Medal, on Thursday 29th September at Seaview Williamstown Events Centre.
