Gulls beat ladder leading Tigers
Williamstown have recorded our fourth straight victory with a big win over top of the table Richmond on Saturday afternoon at Swinburne Centre (Punt Road).
A terrific last quarter led the Seagulls to a 43-point win as they kicked 7 goals to 2 to walk away with a big win.
The Seagulls used our trademark run and carry in the last quarter, with Michael Gibbons and Brett Bewley leading the way and setting up many goals.
Adam Marcon had one of the finest games of his Seagulls career, the Captain kicked three goals to go along with plenty of possessions as well as a mark that need to be seen to be believed.
Lachie Schultz was instrumental in the last quarter getting just reward for his forward pressure, kicking three goals as he returned to his goal kicking best.
Ben Cavarra and Nick Rodda both worked tirelessly up forward all day and were rewarded in the last term, with both kicking two goals in the second half. Cavarra kicked one on the three quarter time siren while Rodda kicked one on the half time siren.
Mitch Norton was another Seagull who was enormous today, providing that run and carry all day and also taking some strong contested grabs through the midfield.
The first half was a terrific contest between two strong sides as they went goal for goal except for a three goal burst by the Gulls at the end of the first.
Peter Faulks missed the second half of the game with illness and will be monitored throughout the week.
The Seagulls now move back into the top four as we take on our traditional rivals Port Melbourne at home next Sunday.
