VFW Player Reviews Numbers 6-10

6. Stacey Cross

Games: 7 Goals: 2

A leg injury hampered Cross’ start to the season, with the tall-forward missing the first three games. Her arrival in round four was instrumental as she played a key role in our inaugural win in the VFLW against Richmond, kicking an important goal. However, it was the following game in which Cross showcased her prowess as a forward, kicking a goal and being named best afield.

7. Krystyn Raymundo

Games: 2 Goals: 0

The midfielder found it hard to break into the side as she managed just the two games during the middle rounds of the season. Her debut game was the extremely gallant effort against Hawthorn in which the women’s side went down by just four-points. Raymundo had a strong season for her home club, Caroline Springs.

8. Chloe Portelli

Games: 14 Goals: 1

Chloe Portelli had an incredibly consistent season, featuring in 14 games and ended up becoming a utility playing in a number of positions. The 28-year-old progressed throughout the year, with her strong marking and reading of the play highlighted in our round 13 loss to the NT Thunder, one of her strongest games for the club.

9. Rachel Achampong

Games: 13 Goals: 0

Achampong had an solid season in the blue and gold. Playing 13 games this year, the strong-bodied ruckman was standout in our inaugural win, a great highlight for one of the leaders around the club. She also received the players player award at our Presentation Night.

10. Belinda Hateley

Games: 12 Goals: 0

The reliable full-back finished seventh in the Best and Fairest count. As the first-choice defender, Hateley would always front up against the oppositions finest forwards. Her ability to spoil and defend one on one was outstanding, which was a highlight in the side’s round three loss to Geelong as she was named best afield. Hateley’s seasoned experience helped rub-off on our younger contingent of players, and her season-ending injury was a big loss to the side.
