VFLW young guns re-sign for 2019

.

Williamstown Football Club is excited to announce the re-signing of young guns Emily Gardner and Kayla Koropeckyj for the 2019 VFLW season.

Gardner debut late in the season, playing in the final three rounds of the season as the 23rd player following a terrific under 18 Youth Girls campaign with the Western Jets earlier in the year. The lightly-framed youngster brought tenacity and bravery well beyond her years and will be looking to build on her performances in 2019 like Koropeckyj.

Koropeckyj had an encouraging but frustrating 2018 with a finger injury at the start of the season hampering the progress she had made earlier in the pre-season. Having debuted against Collingwood in Round 1 on the back of a strong pre-season, Koropeckyj managed a further two matches and despite the injury set back, she took out Spotswood’s Club Best & Fairest.

“Both Emily & Kayla are progressing well throughout the course of the pre-season and no doubt both have the talent to play at VFLW level. They have come through the Western Jets talent pathway and will only benefit from being at the VFLW level in terms of their development and understanding of the game. It is great to have them back on board for the 2019 season” said GM-Football Stephen Soulsby.
