Key Tall, Young Small Re-Sign

 

Williamstown Football Club has re-signed key defender Joel Tippett and young small forward/midfielder Brayden Monk as the Club's playing stocks continue to strengthen over the off-season.

 

Tippett, 29, has re-signed with the Club for a further two years, after joining the Seagulls over the 2016 off-season. After an injury interrupted start to 2017, the ex-AFL listed defender quickly showed why the Club were so keen to secure him, forming a key part of a strong Seagulls defence. Tippett would go on to play 16 games in his debut season with the team, and was named among the side's best players on four occasions. He also finished inside the top 15 in the Club's Best & Fairest, despite his delayed start to 2017.

 

Monk, 21, is the Club's reigning Development League Best & Fairest winner after a highly consistent season that saw the midfielder/forward play 19 games, kick 13 goals and named in the best players on eight of those occasions. While he wasn't able to register a senior game in 2017, Monk has shown in his five career senior games to date that he can contribute at the higher level, and will be pushing for more senior football in 2018.
