Draft Me: Michael Gibbons

Now a dual J.J Liston Medallist (VFL Best & Fairest Winner) at just 23 years of age, Michael Gibbons name continually gets thrown up as one of the best state league footballers in the country.

Gibbons had multiple best on ground displays this year including; 36 possesions, 1 goal v Sandringham Round 11; 37 possesions, 16 being contested v Northern Blues Round 15 and 25 disposals and a goal in the Preliminary Final against Box Hill.

And it is not only us singing his praises, former Sydney premiership coach Paul Roos says he’s seen multiple players overlooked by recruiters that would be worthy of spots on AFL lists with Gibbons as one of these.

“Micky Gibbons is now playing for Williamstown in the VFL, he was as standout young kid that played I think two years in the Rams (NSW-ACT) program as a bottom-age kid and played as a top-age kid” said Roos recently on Fox Footy.

Gibbons has done it all at VFL level and his list of achievements has to be seen to be believed;
