Seagulls announce VFLW leadership group 

Williamstown Football Club is delighted to announce it’s VFLW leadership group for the 2019 season.

Co-captains Jacinta Reid and Nikki Wallace will be joined by Erin Meade, Danica Pederson, Kaitlyn Carew and Rachel Achampong.

Meade was one of the Seagulls best performers last year. As a defender she played 13 games and won the Judy Jermiah Award for the Most Improved Player. Her ability to play one on one allows her to push into the midfield and play a defensive role if required. The 22-year-old will look to be one of our most consistent players this season.

Pederson has spent time with both Carlton and Essendon’s VFLW sides before moving to the Seagulls this year. The 25-year-old will provide plenty of experience to our young side.

Carew joins Williamstown after spening last year with the Southern Saints. Having spent the majority of her time playing basketball and soccer she only made the switch to football a couple of years ago. The 28-year-old will look to play across the forward line this year and showcase her goal kicking skills.

Achampong is one of most likeable players at the club. The ruckman played 13 games for the Seagulls last year and was a standout in our inaugural win. This saw the 32-year-old win the 2018 Players Player Award and she will hope to continue that form this year.

We wish Jacinta, Nikki, Erin, Danica, Kaitlyn and Rachel all the best for the 2019 VFLW season.
