Four Seagulls picked to VFL training squad
Four Williamstown players have been selected to the 27-man VFL state training squad ahead of their clash with the WAFL on Saturday 27th May at North Port Oval.
Brett Bewley, Josh Newman, Leigh Masters and Michael Gibbons were all selected into the squad, and will now train with the rest of the state representatives in the lead-up to next week's contest.
Brett Bewley and Josh Newman will represent the state for the first time should they make the final side, while Leigh Masters and Michael Gibbons both enjoyed state duties at Adelaide Oval last year against the SANFL, with Gibbons taking home the Frank Johnson Medal for best afield for the VFL.
Third-year Seagull Billy Myers will also train with the squad, as part of the talented developing players list.
Williamstown Football Club General Manager of Football, Stephen Soulsby, said it was great recognition for the four players who have all had fantastic seasons to date.
"All four players have had a great start to the season and their selection in the squad is a great individual reward," said Soulsby.
"State representation is a great honour and we are fully supportive of our players being given the opportunity to represent the VFL competition."
