Masters, Wheeler, Gibbons star in big win over Richmond 

Williamstown have beaten the top of the table Richmond on Sunday afternoon in Williamstown. 

In a tight back and forth game the Seagulls beat the Tigers by 12 points in a pulsating contest. 

After a couple of poor weeks the Seagulls played one of their best games of the season and showed plenty of heart in a very important win. 

The Tigers started with the first three goals of the game before the Gulls responded with the next three to lead at the first change by two points.

The second term went goal for goal with Daylan Kempster and Lachie Schutlz kicking goals with the Tigers leading by 4 at the main change. 

Agan the third quarter was goal for goal before the Seagulls kicked the last two of the quarter to lead by 8 at the last break. 

The last term was an incredibly tough contest goals to Cavarra and Schutlz gave the Seagulls a 15 point lead before Shai Bolton closed the gap again.

100 gamer Willie Wheeler celebrated his life membership with a crucial goal before Michael Gibbons sealed a memorable win with a goal from 50. 

Leigh Masters was a rock down back, stopping the Tigers attack time after time in a best on ground display. 

Daylan Kempster and Nick Rodda provided a much need presence up forward while Tom Schnerring and Jordan Jones worked tirelessly in the ruck all day. 

Brett Bewley continued his strong start to the season as did Brayden Monk who saved plenty of goals down back. 

 

Williamstown will look to make it two in a row against Sandringham next Sunday back at Williamstown.
