Young looking to impart experience
New midfield coach Clinton Young says he’s excited to to get stuck into his new coaching chapter after “an awesome start” to the 2020 pre-season.
“It’s been a long time coming, obviously we’re in our second week of training now - a lot of new faces here in both the coaching ranks and in amongst the players - so it’s really exciting and all the boys are keen,” Young said.
A premiership player for Hawthorn back in 2008, the 33-year-old played a total of 137 AFL games after venturing to Collingwood in 2013, before retiring two seasons later.
Since his AFL days, Young has been involved in the Simon Black Academy and coached local club Gisborne for the past three seasons.
But now he’s ready for a new challenge.
“The club has already been successful for a long time so I’m looking forward to hopefully imparting some of my experience to the young boys,” Young said.
“It goes without saying that Collo is an excellent coach and he really embraces all the players.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of that. Williamstown has a really great history and I’m looking forward to just playing my bit.”
