Several show promising signs in win against North
Williamstown have provided plenty of good signs for the upcoming season in today's second practice against North Melbourne.
In warm conditions, a large portion of the squad got game time at Canning Reserve.
In his first game for the Seagulls, Sam McLarty demonstrated his great aerial abilities with a number of contested marks in the backline.
Sam Martyn showed a lot of poise with the ball and kicked a goal in what was also his first match for the club.
Up forward Nick Ebinger was a standout, kicking four goals and creating multiple scoring opportunities for teammates. Darby Henderson was also impressive with two goals of his own and he was consistently involved when the ball hit the ground.
The team as a whole played very well defensively, hampering North Melbourne's efficiency with the ball. This was highlighted by a superb smother from Nick Buykx which saved a certain goal in the last quarter.
Nick Mellington showcased his ability to run out of defence with pace on numerous occasions.
It was also great to see Billy Myers and Brayden Monk play their first match of the year in the blue and gold.
Much like last week there was a lot to learn from the game with experienced players still to come back into the side.
A big thank you must go to the Avondale Heights Football Club for hosting the game.
