Wine and Cheese day another success
The Williamstown Football Club held its annual Gulls Wine, Craft Beer, Cheese and Gourmet Food Day on Saturday, May 18 prior to the VFLW side's season-opener against the Western Bulldogs.
The event was held to raise money for the purchase of rehabilitation equipment for the players.
The fundraising event run by the Gulls Coterie Group was another success attended by around 70 people. It was the second successive year the event has been held at the Seaview Events Centre and was certainly a beautiful day - a sunny 20 degrees.
“It was the perfect day for it,” Gulls President Mandy Drew said.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for local people in the community to mix in and meet new people, and was just a great community event."
“We’ve had some great feedback about how the day went and how much fun people had. People were able to enjoy a great range of wine tastings from the Mornington Peninsula, Pyrenees, McLaren Vale, Heathcote, Barossa and Clare Valley, with craft beers from Two Birds and Moon Dog Breweries."
"We also had a grazing station with fabulous cheeses, deli meats and other gourmet foods."
“A number of the male and female players participated this year in a fun exercise to find out if they knew much about wine. Players had to smell wine and describe the smell to see how their description compared to the tasting notes," she added.
Mandy praised the sponsors for the day.

"We are able to raise money with the donation of raffle prizes and items for our silent auction which included signed Williamstown and Western Bulldogs jumpers."
