Seagulls-TAC Cup pathway remains strong

The Williamstown Football Club has continued its strong relationship with the TAC Cup competition in the early stages of the 2017 season.

As part of the talent pathway for TAC Cup players, the Seagulls are committed to playing at minimum one Western Jets player through the AFL Victoria alignment per home and away round, subject to availability.

The club has also had the opportunity to play players from non-aligned teams, the Dandenong Stingrays, Murray Bushrangers and Bendigo Pioneers as the club sees fit.

TAC Cup sides can have up to six overage players (19-year olds) in which they can only play three on any given weekend. With this, the club will look to develop players within the TAC Cup system to provide further opportunities for their development as part of the transition between TAC Cup and VFL.

The relationship with the TAC Cup and more so the Western Jets is paramount to development of the players with current Seagull Brodie Romensky, who joined the club in 2017, playing as a 23rd player at senior level in 2016 while being a Western Jets player at the time as just one example.

The 2017 season has already seen four TAC Cup players feature with Harrison Bult (Western Jets), Deng Maguang (Western Jets), Nick Richards (Murray Bushrangers) playing at Development League level whilst Bailey Morrish played as 23rd player at VFL level against North Ballarat on the weekend.

The Seagulls have seen continued growth in players coming through the TAC Cup system and will continue to endorse TAC Cup players to play with the club at senior and development level, as a vital component of their development to be ready for VFL football.
