Williamstown Football Club Director Nominations

 Director Nominations

Brent Szalay

Director Brent Szalay has tendered his resignation from the Club board citing time constraints with his growing role with CPA Australia, his business and young family.

“I feel at this stage I do not have the time that is required to fulfil my role to the standard that is fair and equitable to the rest of my fellow Board members. After being a Board member for over 5 years, I feel we have come a long way to achieve our objectives set out back then.

“I am proud that the club has achieved great success during this time, notably the decision to stand alone and break the alliance with Western Bulldogs, and then to win the 2015 Premiership flag.”

President Michael Howlett stated “On behalf of my fellow directors and I, I wish to convey our thanks to Brent for his valuable contribution both on the Board and on the Finance Sub-Committee, and we wish him every success in his future. We are pleased to report that Brent will continue to be a member of the finance sub-committee”.

Accordingly, the Club now calls for nominations for a director to fill his role

Williamstown Football Club is currently seeking nominations for a Board Director.

The closing date for director nominations is 5pm Monday 12th November 2018.

Nominations to the Board must be submitted to the Club Secretary on the official Director Nomination form (attached), and signed by three current Club members.

Also, in accordance with the Director Eligibility Criteria:

(i)                each nomination must be accompanied by a letter outlining the candidates competencies in the Club’s six key strategic areas.

(ii)              Nominees must make themselves available to attend an interview with the Independent Nominations Committee (INC).

(iii)             Club Directors must also be able to satisfy the requirements of the VCGLR.

It should be noted that the INC has identified a strong need for directors possessing experience and skill sets in the area of Finance, preferably with CA or CPA qualifications, to join the Board.
