Marcon Comes Home to Nest
2015 Williamstown premiership player and Fothergill-Round Medallist Adam Marcon has signed a three-year deal with the club.
The 24-year old midfielder re-joins the club after spending a year with Richmond in the AFL, where he played 2 AFL games.
Marcon says he can't wait to get started on his new chapter with the blue and gold.
"I'm very excited to be back with the Seagulls for 2017 and beyond," he said.
"There are so many quality individuals at this club and the culture at Williamstown is something that I am proud to return to."
Despite his recent delisting at Richmond, Marcon had another stellar year largely with the Tigers' VFL team, where he won the Guinane Medal as Richmond VFL's best and fairest player.
The star midfielder averaged over 23 disposals and five tackles a game in the VFL in 2016, as well as averaging 19 disposals across his two AFL games.
General Manager of Football Chris Dixon couldn't be happier to welcome Marcon back into the fold.
"I'm delighted that Adam has committed to the Club for the next three years, his glistening achievements at state league level now include a second Best & Fairest award and there is no doubt he will be returning to us as an improved player after his 12 months as a full-time footballer," said Dixon.
"Adam will provide so much to our club both on and off the field as he possesses outstanding leadership skills and is an extremely popular teammate. Everyone at our club is delighted he has pledged his allegiance for the next three years as we continue to seek on-field success."
Marcon originally crossed to Burbank Oval at the end of the 2013 VFL season, and played 39 games in the blue and gold before being drafted in last year's AFL Rookie Draft.
After playing such a key role in the Seagulls' 2015 premiership success, Marcon says that he'll be looking to pick up where he left off.
"I have some very fond memories with the Williamstown Football Club and I cannot wait to be back amongst my teammates, coaches and support staff as we plan to replicate the ultimate success of 2015."
