Pearce set to lead Seagulls in Saturday's Practice Match

Former Williamstown player and current assistant coach Matthew Pearce will coach the VFL side on Saturday against Werribee.

Pearce played 43 games for the Seagulls and was apart of the 2003 reserves premiership team.

This is not an uncommon practice with Williamstown doing this last season as Clay Illman took the reigns in a practice match last year.

In an experiment that has been used regularly by AFL clubs such as Hawthorn over previous seasons, this will give senior coach Andrew Collins an opportunity to observe from afar, while also providing great experience for Pearce

The match will be played at Deakin University in Waurn Ponds at 12pm.

The squad regains much plenty of experience with the returns of Ben Jolley, Sam Dunell, Peter Faulks (pic), Nick Meese, Leigh Masters and Jack Charleston.

Corey Sleep gets his chance to show the coaches he deserves a spot on the final list, while Nick Richards and Hayden Walters play their first games in the blue and gold.
