Seagulls support charity at local festival

The Williamstown Seagulls were out and about on Saturday to help showcase and promote the Williamstown Heritage Beer and Cider Festival.

The event held at Seaworks Williamstown hosted over 20 independent beer, wine and cider vendors showcasing their brewing talents.

The family-friendly event held free activities all day indoors and out in the beer garden for the kids, as well as multiple food vendors for when you were feeling peckish.

Whether you were there for the beer, a day out or just to support the local community, the ‘Beer Fest’ had something to offer.

The Williamstown Seagulls worked hand in hand with the Les Twentyman Foundation to help take donations and sell raffle tickets on the day, supporting the local charity.

A long time affiliation between the football club and Les’ organisation became a crucial part in promoting the day and assisting with volunteers at the event.

The Les Twentyman Foundation (formerly the 20th Man Fund) aims to provide positive intervention and unconditional support for at-risk youth.

The foundation’s programs and services cover education support, sports and recreation, counselling, personal development, life experiences and employment pathways.

The Club is proud to play its part in growing a local community festival whilst also driving much needed funds for the Les Twentyman Foundation that will be used to provide troubled youth services in our local Hobsons Bay area.

Williamstown Football Club Community Manager Andy Dandridge spoke glowingly of the day.

“The ‘Willy Beer Fest’ is a terrific community event for the whole family,” Dandridge said.

“With activities, independent breweries and food vendors along with live music and an amazing location, the event should be placed in the calendar every year for everyone in Hobson’s Bay.

“Working closely with the Les Twentyman Foundation and helping promote and support their wonderful cause is a worthwhile activity that the Williamstown Football Club is always happy to support.

“We love to help Les and the team out and this day was a great way to do so.”

The Seagulls also ran a handball competition with our friends at Moon Dog Craft Brewery to win prizes and free beer on the day.

We thank the team at Moon Dog for their efforts on the day.
