VFL List Departures

The Williamstown Football Club would like to sincerely thank the following players who have moved on from the Club since the end of the 2018 season which is always a challenging task making list management decisions on players not returning in 2019.

Recently named VFL Life Member Lachlan George has seen an increase of business and travel commitments and will not be with Williamstown in 2019. The tenacious midfielder turned small forward, George played 183 matches in total, was a VFL representative and VFL Team of the Year member in 2013 and a great servant of the North Ballarat Roosters up until their withdrawal from the VFL in 2017.

2015 premiership players in Peter Faulks (Echuca) and Ben Jolley (Port Melbourne) have provided great service to the Club and have forever etched their names in Williamstown History whilst the 2018 Draft will be well remembered with Ben Cavarra (Western Bulldogs), Lachlan Schultz (Fremantle) & Brett Bewley (Fremantle) making Williamstown the first Club in history to have three state league players drafted to the AFL through the National Draft.

Daylan Kempster will return to Community Football full time, re-joining his junior Club Sunbury in the Ballarat Football League. Jordan Jones will Coach Ocean Grove in the Bellarine Football League. Small defender Ben Bese, who returned for two matches late in the season, will travel for most of 2019.

Other players to depart the Club include Tom Cleary, Lachlan Knight, Fletcher Carroll and Nick Richards who are all returning to Community Football.

“On behalf of the Club, we thank all the departing players who have been with the Club and for their contributions. We wish every player the very best with their future footballing endeavours, along with their careers outside of the game. We welcome all our former Seagull players to remain connected to our Club into the future. “said GM-Football Stephen Soulsby.

“In particular we wish Ben, Lachie and Brett all the best in the lead up to the round 1 of the AFL season” added Soulsby.
