Nugent, Shannon add class to VFLW Gulls

Williamstown Football Club is thrilled to announce the signings of Kasie Nugent and Annabelle Shannon for the 2019 VFLW season.

Nugent comes from the Eastlake Demons in Canberra where she has been a multiple premiership player and ACT representative player. Nugent was also named in the AFL Canberra Women’s Team of the Decade and at only 25 years of age, brings plenty of experience to the group.

Shannon spent 2018 on Geelong’s VFLW list but was ruled out of the season due to injury in round 1 of the VAFA season. An athletic runner, Shannon is back to full fitness and can provide the side plenty of outside run and carry following a full pre-season over the summer.

“Kasie brings a wealth of experience and footy smarts to group and it was great to see her relocate from Canberra into the VFLW. No doubt it will provide her a great challenge but at the same time her experience is invaluable to a young list. Annabelle is a talented runner which she has proved in the running tests completed by the group and she will only continue to get better the more she plays and trains at VFLW level” said GM-Football Stephen Soulsby.
