New players impress in first hit-out
Williamstown fans have plenty to look forward to this season if our first practice game is something to go by after today's game against Port Melbourne.
Several new players showed promising signs both up forward and in defence on a picturesque day in Ballarat.
Up forward it was Hish Kerbatieh who impressed kicking 2 goals in the first quarter but also setting up a few and having more shots on goal. Josh Minogue lead the team with some strong marking and kicked 3 goals in a promising showing for the young forward.
Christian Buykx-Smith played his first game after last years health scare and got through well kicking a goal and providing plenty of marking contests.
Jesse Tardio, Joel Ottavi and Nick Mellington all kicked goals and looked lively throughout the game.
Kal Dawson, Lane Buckwell and Sean Gregory all battled manfully in defence with Buckwell also sneaking forward to kick a goal in the last quarter.
It was a solid first hit-out for the boys with several big names to come back in the next few weeks in Adam Marcon, Nick Meese, Jack Charleston, Leigh Masters, Willie Wheeler, Ben Kennedy and Sam Dunell.
A big thank you to Redan FC and Ballarat City Council for hosting the day.
