Williamstown Football Club Board Changes

The Club wishes to advise of recent changes to the Williamstown FC Board of directors.

Fred Hall has decided to step down from the board due to increased work and family commitments. President for the past 2 seasons, Fred has served a number of roles for the Club in his time, including team runner for 9 years and football director since 2013.

Fred has committed an enormous amount of time and effort to each of the voluntary roles he has served over this period. Fred will continue to support the Club, with particular focus on the Club’s community engagements.

Vice President Michael Howlett has been appointed to the President role in the interim period through to our Club AGM (scheduled for 15th March 2018).

Grant Dooley has also relinquished his director position in order to accept a new job overseas which he commences in January 2018. Grant was appointed to the Board in February 2013 and was chairman of the Club’s Governance Sub-Committee and a member of the Finance Sub-committee.

Grant comes from a long-line of famous Dooley family connections to the Seagulls. His mother Janet (who has worked in the canteen since 1953), father Rex, sister Merryl, and grandmother Myrtle, are all life members of the Club.

Based on the recommendation of the Independent Nominations Committee, Clint Rippon has been appointed by the Board to fill the casual vacancy left by Grant. Clint is a past player, having played 81 games with the Club over 5 years during the alignment with Collingwood in the early 2000’s. Clint is a qualified CPA, an executive with investment firm JB Were, and a local resident with strong community focus.

Formal notification of the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday 15th March, along with details of the nomination process for director positions which close on Wednesday 7th February, will be sent to members in the New Year.
