Buykx-Smith to miss rest of the season
Emerging forward Christian Buykx-Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a fall at work which has led to a skin infection.
The infection resulted in hospitalization for the past 3 weeks before being released home last Friday.
Buykx-Smith undertook a number of surgeries to remove the infection and will undergo further surgery to ensure the infection has been fully removed before undertaking rehab.
"As a Club we wanted to ensure both Christian and his family had the space and privacy needed in working through the infection over the past weeks as it has no doubt being a difficult time for them. To the players and staff credit, especially those close to him, they have given the family the space they needed to work through the situation at hand” said Williamstown General Manager of Football, Stephen Soulsby.
“To see Christian in the rooms at training on Tuesday night was no doubt heartening for his teammates and his recovery process will be well supported by our Medical & High Performance staff as we look to assist him in getting back to full health" Soulsby added.
Williamstown Football Club wishes Christian well in his recovery.
