High-flying Davies to use senior experience as launching pad for 2017

A strong finish to his 2016 campaign, including two senior appearances, is what has been motivating young Seagulls forward Tristan Davies this pre-season.

Now entering his third year with the club, Davies said that the build up to this pre-season on a personal level has been different than the past.

"Personally pre-season has had a different dynamic this year having been given the freedom pre-Christmas to train away from the club and get myself in shape," says Davies.

Only first and second year players are instructed to complete all pre-season sessions with the club before Christmas, while third year players and above are given the opportunity to train away from the group if they wish, before re-joining group training at the beginning of 2017.

For Davies though, this season proves to be a pivotal one, as he looks to take his strong, late 2016 form from last season into the early stages of this season.

"Having the experience of debuting late last year and playing in a final against Collingwood is something that is definitely driving me to strive for more senior experience in 2017," says Davies.

"Being able to kick a couple of goals in my first game has given me the confidence that with solid preparation and learning over the next couple of months I can play more consistently at VFL level."

The ability to string some more of those impressive performances together will no doubt help Davies on his quest, as well as being that extra year older and having had more experience among the playing group.

"As far as my goals go for 2017, playing more consistently at my best is a priority which will help me achieve more games in the VFL side," says Davies.

"I also think developing stronger relationships with my teammates and staff is something that can assist with my development as a Williamstown Football Club player."
