Williamstown Football Club Internship Program: VFLW Marketing

The Internship

Work Type: Intern Project
Work Location: Inner West Melbourne (Hobsons Bay Council)
Internship Duration: March through July (VFLW Season)
Intern Hours: 120 hours (approximately 6 hours weekly)

Williamstown Football Club (WFC) is now accepting applications from fields of Sport Management, Business and Marketing to join our 2025 Intern Program to support our delivery of Community and Club Projects.

Williamstown Football Club’s internship program was created to provide experience to those interested in a career in a sporting environment. Generating skills used throughout any sporting organisation and prepare yourself for what a life could look like working for a football club.

The Project

We’re on the hunt for an enthusiastic and driven lover of all thing’s media and marketing. The successful applicant will work closely with the Marketing and Manager to create a range of content across our online channels.

We want you to bring your own creativity, understanding of the digital marketing landscape and unique content creation skills to execute engaging content for our members and sponsors that helps grow our following, promote sponsors businesses and keep our followers wanting more.

The role supports the successful and safe end-to-end delivery of various training and games across various venues, including our home ground, DSV Stadium.

This role will require you to get to know the players, club, function centre and stadium.

About You

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide support to the Marketing and Media Manager
  • Be able to pass any pre-employment requirements such as a drug screen and background check (if requested)
  • Have a Victorian Working with Children’s Check
  • Be able to utilise a PC laptop

With guidance and support, the successful applicant will:

  • Develop and execute social media content across multiple platforms
  • Create engaging and on-brand content for multiple digital platforms
  • Write captions and copy in line with brand tone of voice
  • Provide reports and make recommendations to increase engagement

Required:

  • Minimal experience in social media management and content creation
  • Must be available 1 x evening per week at training and 1 x game day on weekends
  • Ability to create high-quality and engaging video and image content
  • Experience in using programs such as Adobe suite and/or Canva
  • Strong understanding of digital media trends and platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
