Ashley has led the Seagulls since early 2022, and his move marks both a professional step forward and a personal return home to Queensland.
During his tenure, Ashley has played a pivotal role in rebuilding and strengthening the Club’s operational foundations following the COVID-19 pandemic. He has driven growth and success across both the VFL and VFLW programs, and helped deepen the Club’s connection and impact within the broader community.
Club President Merryl Dooley praised Ashley’s contribution, saying:
“Ashley has been a passionate CEO. His professionalism and leadership have guided Williamstown through an important period of transformation and growth. While Ash’s departure is a loss for the Club, we are thrilled for him as he steps into a new chapter in Queensland.”
Reflecting on his time at Williamstown, Ashley expressed his gratitude:
“It has been an absolute privilege to lead this proud and historic football club. Williamstown has given me incredible opportunities to grow as a leader, and I’m deeply thankful to the Board, staff, players, volunteers, members, and supporters for their trust and support over the past three and a half years.
While leaving is bittersweet, I’m excited to return home to Queensland and take on a new challenge in the racing industry, an opportunity made possible by the experiences and growth I’ve had at Williamstown.”
The Club will soon begin the recruitment process for a new CEO to build on the strong foundation Ashley leaves behind.
The Williamstown Football Club extends its sincere thanks to Ashley for his dedication and leadership and wishes him all the very best in this next chapter.
