The Seagulls have made two changes to the side that last took the field in Round 6, with the club returning fresh from a bye and ready to resume its push for consistency in their 2025 campaign.
Both Cox and Ebinger have been cleared to play after recovering from soleus injuries that sidelined them for several weeks. Their return is a timely boost ahead of Past Players Round, with a strong home crowd expected to cheer on both the current squad and a host of returning club legends.
Senior Coach Justin Plapp confirmed the duo’s selection during the week, met with enthusiasm from teammates eager to see two popular figures back in the blue and gold.
Cox, 28, adds experience and composure around stoppages, returning for the first time since suffering a concussion late last year, followed by his calf setback. He featured in seven games across 2024 and will be a steady presence alongside the club’s emerging midfield group.
Ebinger, also 28, will resume his role inside 50 after only managing one appearance this season — back in Round 2, where he sustained his injury. The powerful forward, who finished third in Williamstown’s 2024 goal kicking tally, is known for his contested marking and relentless work rate and is set to test Footscray’s defensive unit early.
Scoring specialist Lachie Gollant will miss the clash as he begins serving a four-week suspension, while Jack Noonan has been omitted but named among the emergencies.
Saturday afternoon’s clash also marks Past Players Round, with many former Seagulls returning for a pre-match function and to celebrate the club’s proud history.
The first bounce is scheduled for 3:05pm at DSV Stadium.
