Impey hasn’t featured at VFL level since Round 2, when the Seagulls made the trip to Sydney to face GWS.
After missing the last nine matches, the ruck man has been rewarded for a strong showing in the Ballarat Football Netball League last weekend, where he collected eight contested possessions and laid five tackles in Darley’s win over Sunbury.
Impey will line up for his seventh ever game in the blue and gold, with his physicality and pressure set to be a valuable asset in the crunch game at DSV Stadium.
He comes in for Mitch Cox, who was announced as ruled out earlier this morning after sustaining an elbow injury in last weekend’s contest against Werribee. The extent of his absence is still to be determined.
Luke Scicchitano and Oscar Sasalu have been added to the list of emergencies in place of Impey.
Williamstown currently sits seventh on the ladder, but shares the same points with the eighth and ninth-placed sides, meaning every result from here is vital in the race to finals.
Sandringham, meanwhile, are looking to snap a three-game losing streak and find themselves second-last on the ladder.
Last season, the Seagulls broke a six-year drought against the Zebras with a stirring win at home — and they’ll be hoping to repeat that performance in front of a home crowd once again.
This weekend also marks Williamstown’s Indigenous Round. As part of the recognition, both teams will line up five minutes before the first bounce for a Welcome to Country ceremony on-field.
