30-year-old Jake Greiser will lace up the boots for his 150th senior game for the Club in the Round 17 matchup against Box Hill in front of the Williamstown native at DSV Stadium.
The defender spent his junior days with the Keilor Football Club in the EDFL before a transition into the Coates Talent League where he represented the Western Jets.
Greiser’s desires to compete at AFL level unfortunately fell short when he was overlooked at the 2013 AFL National Draft.
However, Williamstown loved what they saw from Greiser’s skillset, and he was fortunate enough to sign with the Seagulls and become a member of their Development League side.
While the dream was to play AFL, Greiser settled comfortably at Williamstown and looked right at home.
He played less than 30 games in the development squad, however had an immediate and long-lasting impact, winning back-to-back premierships with them in 2014 and 2015.
Named the 2015 Development Squad Best and Fairest, Greiser was awarded a senior debut not long after, and the club never looked back.
A sensational career as a Seagull, Greiser has faced the highs and lows of football while being a leader for his teammates.
Now entering season number 12 for the Seagulls, Greiser has achieved something not a lot of players have: 150 games for a single club across their entire senior career.
While he has never won any individual accolades, Greiser is someone that has brought a level of care and intensity to his time at Williamstown.
Greiser has been a much-loved member of the club and has received praise from both coaches and teammates for his demeanor on and off the field.
As he continues his stellar career, Greiser is still chasing the illustrious prize of a premiership flag at senior level.
With an appearance in the 2019 VFL Grand Final, Greiser and the Seagulls faced heartbreak, falling short by three points to Richmond who claimed the premiership title.
This season, however, looks like it could be a chance for Greiser and his teammates to claim victory, currently sitting 6th on the VFL ladder with nine wins from 14 games and looking all but set to play finals.
Greiser himself has been a huge part of this season’s success for the Seagulls, putting up over 20 disposals a game off the backline.
The Williamstown life member was rewarded for a standout season last year in 2024, placing equal fourth in the Williamstown Best and Fairest count and earning the Club 1864 Award.
Simply a vote behind the third placed Brodie McLaughlin, Jack Brown and Joel Fitzgerald, Greiser has been a consistent top performer for the Seagulls over the past few seasons and a true leader of the club.
The milestone match is to take place in Round 17 with Williamstown to host Box Hill down at DSV Stadium this Sunday 20th July.
Supporters should be out in full force to celebrate Greiser’s accomplishment, given his dedication to the club throughout all his years as a Seagull.
A true Williamstown hero, Jake Greiser has been a staple of what it means to be someone who puts themselves aside to better the people around them.
Both a sensational talent on the field and an even better club person off the field, no one is more deserving of reaching the 150 games milestone on Sunday.
Be sure to tune into the matchup as the Seagulls hope to secure another victory over Box Hill and keep their finals dreams alive.
With a 2.05PM first bounce, it’s shaping up to be a cracking game down at DSV Stadium in Williamstown.
