VFL Team Selection: Seagulls aim to extend winning form with two Club debuts

March 27, 2026

Williamstown looks to extend its strong start after last Friday’s win over Frankston, preparing to face Carlton in Round 2 for the Blues’ first game of the 2026 season.

The Seagulls will unveil two new faces in the blue and gold, with Diesel Moloney (9) and Alex Mirkov (49) both named to make their Club debuts this weekend.

The pair bring a unique mix of talent and experience to the side. Alex Mirkov (49) stands at 210cm and adds significant height and AFL experience, having been signed to Carlton in the 2021 Mid-Season Rookie Draft from Carlton’s VFL list, after transitioning from volleyball.

Diesel Moloney (9) has joined Williamstown after impressive performances with Footscray VFL and Deer Park, bringing pace, skill, and youthful energy to the Seagulls’ midfield.

Williamstown enters the clash with a 1–1 record to open the season and will be eager to maintain momentum.

The Club will unfortunately be without Kye Turner (27), who sustained a hamstring injury during the Round 1 clash against Frankston. Turner will begin his rehabilitation, with a focus on returning to play in the coming weeks.

With confidence building and new talent continuing to emerge, the Seagulls will be determined to deliver another strong performance and keep their early-season form rolling.
