Fresh off a hard-fought one-point loss to the Box Hill Hawks last weekend, Williamstown’s VFLW side hits the road for Round 3 this Saturday morning, travelling to Windy Hill to take on Essendon from 11:05am.
Currently sitting with a 1-1 record to begin the 2026 season, the Seagulls will be looking to make a strong statement against the Bombers as they continue building momentum early in the season.
Despite the narrow defeat in Round 2, Williamstown’s side remains largely unchanged, with the Club welcoming back both Krystal Russell and Jazmin Tweddle-O’Donnell for this weekend’s clash.
Tweddle-O’Donnell first joined the Seagulls in 2024 following a season with Collingwood’s VFLW program, going on to feature in five games in her debut year in blue and gold.
Her return adds valuable depth and experience to the squad as she looks to continue building on her VFLW exposure.
Russell’s return further strengthens Williamstown’s midfield and ruck stocks, with the former Essendon-listed tall bringing strong physicality and competitiveness around the contest.
After making her VFLW debut in 2023, Russell arrived at Williamstown with impressive pathway credentials through Vic Metro and the Western Jets.
During the 2025 campaign, Russell featured in seven matches, highlighted by a best-on-ground performance and her first goal in blue and gold.
With both sides entering the contest with one win and one loss to start the season, Saturday’s matchup shapes as an important early-season test as the Seagulls look to respond strongly away from home.
