Ryan arrives at DSV Stadium following a strong body of work in the Essendon District Football League, where he has established himself as one of the competition’s most dangerous forwards.
A former Western Jets talent, Ryan first gained recognition in 2021 when he was awarded the EDFL AGA Apprenticeships Plus Rising Star Award, recognising him as the league’s leading young male footballer. Playing his first full season of senior football, Ryan featured in all 12 Division One matches, averaging nearly two and a half goals per game, earning five best-on-ground selections and a place in the Division One Team of the Year.
Ryan’s football journey has also included experience at state league level, making his VFL debut with the Northern Bullants in 2023. Across five appearances, he kicked four goals while continuing to develop his game against senior opposition.
In 2026, Ryan has enjoyed another standout campaign with Essendon Doutta Stars, producing several match-winning performances. His recent form has seen him earn multiple player-of-the-match honours, including a seven-goal haul that helped propel Doutta Stars further inside the top five, while his impact inside 50 has made him one of the EDFL’s most influential forwards.
A dynamic and athletic forward, Ryan brings strong aerial ability, goal sense and valuable experience from both the VFL and local football ranks.
