Williamstown has named its side for Saturday’s VFL Elimination Final against Essendon at Windy Hill, with captain Finn O’Dwyer set to make his long-awaited return from injury.
O’Dwyer will pull on the blue and gold for the first time since Round 7 after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this season. Having battled the shoulder issue through the off-season before sustaining a further injury at training, the captain’s return provides a timely and much-needed boost to the Seagulls’ backline for our clash with the Bombers.
Also returning to the side is dominant midfielder Jack McHale, who celebrated his 50th game for Williamstown and 100th VFL appearance earlier this season. McHale brings valuable finals experience and a strong presence to the side as Williamstown looks to keep its season alive.
The Seagulls will face a strong Essendon outfit, with the Bombers naming 17 AFL-listed players for the elimination final.
Ned Pendergast and Ryan Jacobs make way from the side that defeated Carlton in last weekend’s Wildcard Final.
With a place in the next stage of the VFL Finals Series on the line, Williamstown will take on Essendon at Windy Hill from 12:05pm Saturday.
The match will be broadcast live and free by ABC TV VIC, the network’s main channel in Victoria, and ABC iview nationally. All other matches will be broadcast live and free on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.
