To our valued WFC community,
Newport Social, located on Mason Street in Newport, is a cornerstone asset for the Williamstown Football Club and our largest source of commercial contribution. Its ongoing success plays a direct role in supporting the Club’s financial strength and enabling continued investment in our VFL and VFLW football programs.
Following the successful negotiation of a new long-term lease through to 2052, the venue has now completed a significant $1.2 million upgrade, with the formal re-launch taking place last night.
The refreshed venue has been designed to offer members, supporters and the broader community a modern, energising and welcoming experience, including:
• A premium sports bar and event viewing experience
• Strong AFL, VFL and local community football connections
• Improved dining and casual hospitality options
• A stronger platform for member and community engagement
• Sports betting and gaming facilities within an upgraded venue environment
The relaunch of Newport Social is an important milestone for the Club. More than a venue upgrade, it reflects the continued strengthening of WFC’s commercial and financial foundations, providing greater resilience and a stronger base from which our football programs, members and broader community can benefit for many years to come.
It also comes during a period of strong progress across the Club. Over the past 12 months, disciplined management, focused investment and the support of our members, partners and sponsors have helped deliver several important commercial achievements, including:
• Seaview Function Centre achieving record revenue and profitability
• Corporate sponsorship reaching record levels of partner and sponsor contribution
• Continued membership growth, with particularly strong expansion across the Social Club and Speccie categories
• Club merchandise sales tracking more than 40% ahead of expectations
• Community engagement continuing to grow, with more than 10 million social media views, representing over 300% growth on the prior year
These outcomes reflect the collective efforts of many across the Club and provide further confidence that WFC is building from a position of increasing strength. We look forward to sharing more detail through future member communications and forums in the months ahead.
