Lauren Wood farewells Williamstown after five impactful years

October 15, 2025
Head of Digital and Content, Lauren Wood, farewells the Williamstown Football Club after almost five years of outstanding contribution to the club and community in various roles.

A proud Williamstown local, Lauren had the chance to work within the club as a waiter and bartender for Seaview Williamstown Events Centre back in 2021.

She continued to build her experience as an Events Manager and Administration Team Leader in 2023, while undergoing her studies at RMIT University.

While studying for her Bachelor in Communications, she gained first-hand experience in the Club’s media department as a Social Media Coordinator.

After graduating, Lauren was appointed her first full-time career role as Head of Digital and Content for the 2025 season, where she applied her talents for storytelling and creativity to shape the Club’s powerful digital presence and grow its online community.

In conjunction with her leadership position, Lauren mentored 11 interns in 2025. These interns were guided and encouraged to develop valuable industry experience in the fields of media, marketing, journalism, and communications.

As a standalone Club, Williamstown prides itself on providing meaningful opportunities for young people starting out in their careers, with a dedication to nurturing the next generation of talent.

Lauren will now embark on a new adventure travelling overseas, and the Club wishes her every success on her next chapter.

CEO Paul Northey paid tribute to Lauren, highlighting both her impact and the broader prospects the Club provides for aspiring professionals.

“The Club is far more than the football played each weekend.

It plays a vital role in the community and provides valuable opportunities for young people to learn and grow – whether as volunteers, part-time workers or interns.”

“Lauren is a fantastic example of a local who gained diverse experiences, applied her university training, and built a strong foundation for her career,” Northey said.

The Club will soon open applications for its 2026 internship program and encourage interested students to enquire.

The Williamstown Football Club gives its heartfelt thanks to Lauren for her creativity, commitment, and tireless efforts. Her impact has made a lasting difference to the Club, and she will always be a cherished member of the Seagulls family.
