The experienced defender will enter his sixth year at the Club in 2027, continuing a journey that has seen him become one of the most respected leaders within the Williamstown Football program.

After stepping into the role as sole VFL captain for the 2026 season, O’Dwyer once again demonstrated the leadership, resilience and commitment that have made him such an important figure at DSV Stadium.

Despite an injury-interrupted campaign, the skipper made his impact felt across his three appearances, helping guide the Seagulls to memorable victories over Essendon and Richmond while providing stability and direction from the backline.

Across his games in 2026, O’Dwyer averaged 14.3 disposals, 10 kicks and five marks, continuing to showcase his ability to win the football, provide drive from defence and lead by example on game days.

His commitment to the Seagulls extends beyond game day, with the skipper playing a key role in developing the next generation of Williamstown players and maintaining the strong culture that has been built within the VFL program.

General Manager, Football Josh Rhodes welcomed the news of O’Dwyer’s recommitment, praising the captain’s leadership and impact both on and off the field.

“Finn has shown an unwavering commitment over the past 5 years and we’re super excited for this to continue,” Rhodes said.

“It’s been a tough year for him only notching up the 3 games but he’s continued to lead from the front, assisting on match-day and driving our standards off-field. Players of Finn’s calibre don’t come around too often and with another pre-season under his belt, we enter 2027 with an A-grade recruit.”

O’Dwyer’s recommitment is a significant boost for the Seagulls, securing one of the Club’s key leaders as Williamstown begins building towards an exciting 2027 campaign.
