Delivered during PE classes and tailored primarily for Grades 3 to 6, the Seagull Sessions provide inclusive football clinics that cater to all abilities — from students new to the game to those already playing in junior leagues.
The program is led by Williamstown FC Community Coordinator Thomas McCormick, alongside a team of Community Interns, who run drills designed to build both footy skills and personal development.
Williamstown Football Club CEO Ashley Baker said, “We’re proud to announce that Port of Melbourne has extended its partnership with us for another two years. Their support not only strengthens our football programs but also has a direct impact on local students through school clinics and leadership development.”
Each Seagull Session links directly to Port of Melbourne’s core values:
- Integrity – Building trust through honesty and transparency
- Collaboration – Achieving more by working together
- Accountability – Taking responsibility and celebrating success
- Adding Value – Embracing excellence and innovation in every session
Port of Melbourne contributes over $200,000 annually to community partners, and Williamstown FC is fortunate to be part of this investment in local youth.
“As a city-port, we have a commitment that reaches well beyond the port gate. We are dedicated to giving back to our local community, and the extension of our partnership with Williamstown FC is an incredible example of a collaboration that continues to benefit the communities of Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong,” said Saul Cannon, Port of Melbourne Chief Executive Officer.
The Hon. Melissa Horne MP, Member for Williamstown, added, “Williamstown FC is booming – reaching more primary school students than ever before. Thanks to their fantastic clinics made possible by the Port of Melbourne, more and more kids are getting involved in sport, boosting their confidence and making strong community connections.”
