A look at six performances by Williamstown FC players in local leagues over the weekend of the 9th of August.
Hamish Morrison – Airport West Football Club (EDFL Premier Division)
Hamish Morrison was instrumental in Airport West’s nail-biting one-goal victory over Strathmore, producing one of his best games of the season. He racked up 32 disposals at a season-high 88% efficiency, applying 6 tackles and driving the ball out of defence with 6 rebound 50s. Morrison’s work rate and clean ball use saw him finish with a season-best 163 ranking points, helping lift Airport West into 6th spot on the ladder. With two rounds remaining, maintaining this form will be crucial to secure a finals berth.
Jack Noonan – Deer Park Football Club (EDFL Premier Division)
Jack Noonan carried his strong form into Deer Park’s 59-point win over Pascoe Vale, delivering another impactful performance. He finished with 23 disposals, including a season-high 16 kicks, going at 70% efficiency. Noonan also took 7 marks, won 5 clearances, sent the ball inside 50 on 8 occasions and registered 100 ranking points. The victory moves Deer Park into 4th spot on the ladder, now two games clear of 5th and just one game behind 3rd, keeping them well placed to finish in the top four.
Lucas Impey – Darley Football Netball Club (BFNL Seniors)
Lucas Impey was a dominant force in Darley’s 65-point win over Sebastopol, earning recognition as one of the best players on the ground. He got the better of his opponent in the ruck battle, winning the hitouts 42 to 36. He was highly efficient with his 11 disposals, going at 90%. Impey’s defensive work was equally impressive, holding his opponent to just a single touch while adding 5 clearances and 116 ranking points. The victory all but secures top spot for Darley, setting them up for a strong run into finals.
Krystal Russell – Williamstown CYMS (VAFA Premier Women’s)
Krystal Russell was recognised as one of Williamstown CYMS’ most influential players in their 19-point loss to West Brunswick. She hit the scoreboard with a goal, rotated through multiple roles, and won several clearances, showcasing her versatility. Williamstown CYMS sit 8th on the ladder and will need to turn around their form quickly to keep their finals hopes alive.
Krissy Trang – Burnside Heights Football Club (EDFL Division One)
Krissy Trang played a key role in Burnside Heights’ 57-point win over Westmeadows, particularly after a tight first quarter. After the break at quarter time, Burnside took control, holding Westmeadows goalless for the remainder of the match. Recognised as one of the most influential players, Trang hit the scoreboard with a goal, unsettled her opponent with persistent pressure and provided strong support for her teammates throughout the contest. Burnside now turns its attention to this weekend’s preliminary final clash against Keilor Park.
Eloise Burdett-Moore – Kew Football Club (VAFA Premier Women’s)
Eloise Burdett-Moore was a standout in Kew’s 49-point win over Beaumaris, producing one of her best performances of the season. She read the play superbly, taking multiple intercept marks and winning free kicks for holding the ball, while her ball use proved damaging going forward. Burdett-Moore also contributed a few score assists and consistently upheld the Seagull’s values throughout the match. With three games remaining, Kew sits 5th on the ladder and will be pushing hard to secure a finals spot.
