Williamstown Football Club is proud to unveil its VFLW leadership group for the 2026 season, assembling a strong mix of proven experience and emerging voices as the Seagulls prepare for another competitive campaign.
Leading the side once again is Eliza Straford, who will continue in the captaincy role after setting the standard with her resilience, professionalism and ability to unite the playing group both on and off the field.
Straford will be supported by Vice-Captain Emily Eaves, whose consistency and composure have made her a trusted figure within the squad. The pair’s established partnership provides a steady foundation as the Seagulls look to build on their progress heading into 2026.
The leadership group will again feature a blend of continuity and growth, with Phoebe Chisholm, Megan Williamson and Zoe Day returning as leaders after demonstrating their influence and commitment across recent seasons.
New to the leadership group in 2026 is Ellie McLinden, who adds significant experience and composure following her arrival at the Club.
A former Box Hill captain with over 50 VFLW games to her name, McLinden is widely respected for her strong game sense and organisational ability in defence. Her leadership will be instrumental in guiding the backline, while also providing valuable support to the broader playing group.
The expanded and balanced leadership structure reflects the Club’s focus on fostering strong on-field direction while continuing to invest in the development of its emerging leaders.
With a united and driven leadership group at the helm, Williamstown enters the 2026 VFLW season well-positioned to take the next step and deliver a consistent, competitive brand of football.
