Six recommit ahead of 2026 VFLW season

May 14, 2026
Williamstown Football Club is pleased to confirm a further group of VFLW players have recommitted for the 2026 season, adding continuity and depth to the Seagulls’ list just days out from the opening round.

Gabriella De Angellis

Gabriella De Angelis has recommitted for the 2026 season, continuing her role as a key forward within the Williamstown VFLW program.

With 83 VFL games to her name, De Angelis has been a consistent and dangerous forward, previously starring for the Southern Saints. A 2022 VFLW Grand Finalist and the Saints’ leading goalkicker in 2023, she brought proven experience into the Seagulls line-up upon joining in 2025.

Last season, De Angelis also held a place in the Club’s leadership group, providing valuable guidance and composure across a developing playing group and helping drive Williamstown’s run to a semi-final appearance against North Melbourne.

Zoe Attard

Zoe Attard has recommitted for the 2026 season as she continues her development within the Seagulls’ program.

After joining Williamstown in 2025, Attard has been working through the Club’s development pathway with the aim of making her VFLW debut. Alongside her training commitments, she gained valuable match experience at local level with Williamstown CYMS in the VAFA Premier Women’s competition, alongside fellow Seagulls Melina Ciavarella and Ella Tyson.

Jazmin Tweddle O’Donnell

Williamstown is pleased to confirm Jazmin Tweddle O’Donnell has recommitted for the 2026 season.

Tweddle O’Donnell first joined the Seagulls in 2024 after a season with Collingwood VFLW, going on to feature in five games in her debut year in blue and gold. Her return adds further depth and experience to the squad as she looks to build on her previous VFLW exposure.

Megan Smart

Megan Smart has recommitted for the 2026 season following a breakout year in 2025.

The Williamstown local played 14 games last season, establishing herself as a reliable and tough defender who rarely lost a one-on-one contest. Her consistency and work rate made her a key part of the Seagulls’ backline structure throughout the year.

Smart’s development was recognised at the Club’s presentation night, where she was awarded the 2025 VFLW Judi Jeremiah Trophy for Most Improved.

Yasmin Welsford

Yasmin Welsford has recommitted for the 2026 season after making her VFLW debut in 2025.

Welsford first pulled on the Williamstown jumper during Heritage Round in Round 11 last season after signing with the Seagulls ahead of the 2025 campaign. The Strathmore defender impressed across the year with her intercept marking, clean kicking, and composure under pressure, building steadily across her first exposure to VFLW level.

Mia Giannaopolous

Last but not least, Mia Giannopoulos has recommitted for the 2026 season as she prepares for her long-awaited VFLW debut with Williamstown.

A dynamic midfielder/forward, Giannopoulos first joined the Seagulls during the 2024 pre-season after time with the Darebin Falcons and has remained part of the program since. Her journey has included a significant setback with a foot injury, but she has worked her way back through strong performances at VAFA level with Old Yarra Cobras.

Since returning, she has strung together consistent form, including five consecutive games, and recently celebrated her 100th career match milestone.

The group brings together a strong mix of experience, developing talent, and emerging leaders across the program as the Club prepares to kick off its 2026 campaign this weekend.
