Geoff was a director of the Club in 1996 and 1997 under the presidency of Greg Swann and was president of The Gulls coterie group from 1992-1995.
Geoff helped steer the Club through the tumultuous 1995 season when the Club was staring down the barrel of a forced merger with Werribee.
As stated, Geoff was also a much-loved part of the Williamstown and maritime community.
He played an important role in getting Seaworks off the ground and was a passionate volunteer with the Seaworks Maritime Museum.
Geoff was also involved with the establishment of the Williamstown Maritime Association and the social club which became the Pirate’s Tavern in 2004.
Geoff was a past secretary of the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club, a member of the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria, and was honoured by Rotary for his charity work.
He was also a Life Governor of Williamstown Hospital and a former Williamstown Councillor, all while he spent 26 years as the owner and director of a Williamstown printing company, which used to produce the Dogtown Dialogue newsletter on behalf of the Football Club.
Geoff was also the author and publisher of several maritime history books.
Deepest condolences are extended to Geoff’s extended family and friends at this sad time.
RIP Dougs.
