VFL Team Selection: Gollant and Ebinger return for historic clash with Werribee

June 23, 2025
Williamstown has made two changes for Saturday’s blockbuster DSV Family Day and Pride Game against reigning premiers Werribee at DSV Stadium.

Lachlan Gollant and Nick Ebinger return to the side for the Round 13 clash, replacing Jovan Petric (injured) and Jack Noonan (omitted) following the bye week.

For Gollant, it marks just his third appearance in the blue and gold, after injury delayed the start of his 2025 campaign.

The former Adelaide Crow was building form before a four-week suspension from Round 6 halted his streak. He’ll now join forces again with leading goalkicker Brodie McLaughlin up forward.

Ebinger also rejoins the side after being a late withdrawal in Round 11 against Brisbane. A calf concern just before the first bounce ruled him out, with Blake Coleman stepping in as the only travelling emergency.

Coleman made the most of the opportunity, kicking five goals, and retains his spot for this week’s match alongside Ebinger, who’s had nearly three weeks to recover.

Petric has been sidelined due to a knee injury, with further assessment to come, while Noonan – despite collecting 20 disposals in Queensland – has been omitted.

This Saturday’s clash also carries historic weight. It will be Williamstown’s 2600th VFA/VFL match, making the Club the first in history to reach that milestone.

With 1410 wins, 1142 losses and 47 draws, it’s a moment of pride for the Club to celebrate such an achievement in front of a home crowd.

Adding to the occasion, VFL leaders Finn O’Dwyer and Toby Triffett will celebrate their 50th games in blue and gold.

Co-Captain O’Dwyer has become a mainstay in the Seagulls’ back six since arriving from the Bullants in 2022, while Triffett—who debuted in 2023—continues to lead by example with over 75 VFL games under his belt.

Saturday’s game also doubles as Pride Round and DSV Family Day, presented in partnership with platinum sponsors DSV Global Transport and Logistics.

Supporters can expect a vibrant community atmosphere, packed with family-friendly activities, food and drink options, and the return of the much-loved halftime clash between DSV and WFC staff.

It will be Williamstown’s first meeting with Werribee since Anzac Day, where the Tigers claimed a 20-point win.

This weekend, the Seagulls will be out to flip the script—and give Senior Coach Justin Plapp the perfect early birthday present.
