VFLW Team Selection: Seagulls Lock in Ciavarella for Sunday Showdown Against Bulldogs

May 31, 2025

After getting on top of the Blues in Round 6, the Seagulls are ready to take on the Dogs in front of a home crowd.

The Round 7 fixture will see Melina Ciavarella come into the side for just her second game at VFLW level.

Cat O’Bryan has been named to start in the ruck, stepping into the role vacated by Krystal Russell, who has been moved to the list of emergencies.

O’Bryan brings a wealth of experience and the ability to compete both in air and at ground level, a key asset during stoppages.

Krystal Russell, who debuted for the blue and gold in Round 5, is named as an emergency alongside Ella Tyson, Amelia Marino, Talia Motta, Camryn Bux, and Krissy Trang.

The match will mark the beginning of a critical stretch for the Seagulls, who are looking to bank a fifth win for the season and continue building cohesion and confidence across the board.

With a strong mix of emerging talent and seasoned performers, this week’s match offers an opportunity for the team to build on early-season promise and bring their best footy to play against the side that knocked them out of finals last season.

The game also marks a return to DSV Stadium, where the Seagulls will be eager to put on a show for their home crowd.
