Seasoned defender Finn O’Dwyer will accompany returning skipper Cam Polson as Williamstown’s Co-Captains for 2025.

Polson will return as the leading man for a fourth consecutive year. With his side falling short in the finals of season 2024, the 26-year-old looks to lead Williamstown to Premiership glory this time around.

Polson will have some help however, as young gun Finn O’Dwyer will be at the helm alongside him.

Earning the role of Deputy Vice-Captain for the 2024 season, O’Dwyer has taken a step up as a leader within his skilful Williamstown unit.

Having been drafted by Carlton in 2018, followed by a stint with the Northern Bullants VFL side, O’Dwyer stepped into the blue and gold outfit with years of knowledge and experience.

It didn’t take long for the bullish defender to develop as a crucial piece of the Seagulls’ back six, finishing runner up in the 2023 Williamstown Best and Fairest count.

O’Dwyer possesses a level of poise that makes him an extremely damaging player on the field, while also being a calm yet fearless leader off it.

Despite their contrasting playing styles, O’Dwyer is relishing the chance to lead side by side with Polson in 2025.

“The news of being named captain alongside Cam came as a great surprise, but it quickly turned into excitement about what we can achieve together and as a group this year,” said O’Dwyer.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent such a proud club and community like Williamstown and I can’t thank the Club enough for the support and faith they’ve shown me since I arrived. Throughout the year, I hope to lead this club—so rich in history—alongside Cam to even more success.”

Closing in on 50 games for the Seagulls, Cameron Polson will return as co-captain in 2025.

Similarly to his new co-captain, Polson was drafted in 2016 by Carlton, where he spent four years at the club before a transfer to Williamstown in 2021.

As a utility, Polson has had an on-field impact from day one, damaging opponents from all positions with his versatility.

After just one season at the club, he was named Williamstown captain and has remained the team’s leader since.

Polson has had a massive influence on the club during his tenure as skipper, leading the team to multiple semi-final appearances while fostering a culture of unity, care, and passion both on and off the field.

With years of football experience, a drive to improve and win, and a natural ability to lead, Polson and O’Dwyer seem the perfect pair to guide Williamstown to success in the upcoming VFL season.

The remainder of the leadership group for 2025 will be announced in due course, so stay tuned for updates.
