Williamstown Football Club is excited to announce the appointment of Danny Ryan as the new Senior Assistant Coach for the 2025 VFL season.

Ryan, a seasoned figure in the VFL coaching landscape, joins the Seagulls’ coaching staff led by Senior Coach Justin Plapp.

Previously, Ryan was Senior Coach at Frankston Football Club, where he built a strong foundation over five seasons. His tenure at the Dolphins saw five players drafted to the AFL and many community initiatives that extended beyond his coaching responsibilities.

Most recently, Ryan held the role of Senior Assistant Coach at Port Melbourne for the 2024 season.

On Ryan’s appointment, Senior Coach Justin Plapp said, “With Danny on board, we are confident that his experience from various levels of football will enhance our team’s on-field execution. He’s a great addition to our club and I look forward to seeing the impact he’ll have on our group.”

CEO Ashley Baker also commented stating, “Adding someone of Danny’s calibre to our coaching team reinforces our commitment to building our VFL program in 2025. He is a proven leader in the industry and having previously coached at standalone clubs, he brings a strong sense of community spirit that aligns with our values. We warmly welcome Danny to the Williamstown Football Club.”

With Ryan joining the VFL coaching team, Jeff Andrews will transition into the position of General Manager of Football across both our VFL and VFLW programs.

Ryan will officially begin his role when pre-season training commences mid-November.
Announcements regarding the remaining coaching structure will be made in due course.
