Yarrawonga duo to go again

October 6, 2025
Ned Pendergast and Ben Kennedy have recommitted to Williamstown for another season, extending their time in the blue and gold into 2026.

The pair’s re-signings continue a strong run of commitments from the Club’s development-listed players, following the recent extension of Damon Hollow.

Both from Yarrawonga, Pendergast and Kennedy have just completed their first year with the Seagulls, with Pendergast making his VFL debut in Round 4.

The defender impressed throughout a challenging season, becoming a regular in the backline from Round 16 onwards.

He finished the year with eight appearances – the second-most of any VFL debutant in 2025 behind Hollow – and featured in both finals matches.

19-year-old Kennedy was close to breaking into the side on several occasions this year, yet played most of his football back home with Yarrawonga’s senior team.

He kicked 21 goals as a forward for Yarrawonga and also made six appearances for the Murray Bushrangers in the Coates Talent League.

Williamstown GM of Football Operations, Ash Collins, said the pair’s attitude and appetite for growth has stood out within the Club’s development program.

“The willingness of Ned and Ben to learn has been great to see,” Collins said.

“Ned has earned his place in the side through his work rate and grit – he’s integrated nicely into our backline and will only improve with more VFL exposure next season.

“There’s an exciting development pathway set out for Ben, which he’ll work hard with our coaching group to achieve, but his re-signing adds another important chapter to his story.

“We’re pleased to have Ned and Ben on board for 2026 and look forward to watching their careers progress in blue and gold.”
